Who is the BYSC Academy for?
The BYSC Academy is meant for those U7-U10 players who have experienced the BYSC Recreation/Instructional programs and are now looking for a higher level of training and competition to continue to improve/hone their soccer skills.
How is the BYSC Academy Program different from Recreation/Instructional?
The biggest difference is that the BYSC Academy provides USSF Licensed trainers for all players rather than volunteer coaches and each trainer follows a STYSA approved curriculum to maximize player development. Additionally the BYSC Academy looks to bring all the best players from all recreation/instructional teams together to maximize the challenge for each player to improve whereas recreation is meant to spread the best players around to various teams to make as even and balanced teams as possible.
What nights will my child train in the BYSC Academy?
BYSC Academy Training takes place between Mondays and Thursday each week between 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm. The specific time for each age/gender is set before each season based on the availability of the trainers.
How much travel is required of BYSC Academy players?
The BYSC Academy aims to limit travel for all players due to the age of our members. U7/U8 players should expect to play all games in the Golden Triangle (no travel beyond 30 minutes). U9/U10 players will play the majority of their matches in the Golden Triangle, but will have some limited travel to places no further than 90 minutes away such as Lake Charles, Baytown or Houston.
How much does it cost to participate in the BYSC Academy?
The club fees for the BYSC Academy for a year (August-May) are approximately $625 for the 2023/24 season. This club fee covers trainers, referee fees, player/coach registration fees, field maintenance and more.
Players are required to purchase a uniform kit which costs between $75-$100 (on a 2 year rotation).
There may be additional team fees for those players interested in playing in any tournaments (optional) to cover entry fees, etc. Estimated team fees for a tournament often range from $50-$75 per player per tournament.
